Seeking Committee Members for a "Green Team"
A new committee has formed around promoting sustainable business practices within the local design industry. To assure the degree of emphasis needed to significantly move this initiative forward, a new Sustainability Chair position was created on the chapter Board. Lisa Holmes, our former Secretary, was named to the position.
Raising awareness of the importance of sustainability in design work will be a key goal of the committee, as will increasing the focus on sustainability within our chapter and the Portland design community. This will be achieved in part by showcasing the efforts of local designers and vendors. Plus, we are working to build a robust online resource of information for our members.
Currently the “Green Team” is focusing on a variety of tasks including:
Communications: Assisting with submissions to AIGA’s internal and external media efforts such as eNews, social networking broadcasts, AIGA Portland website and announcements to the working press.
Resources: Researching and compiling sustainability resources within the printing, paper, packaging, manufacturing, distribution, and any other design-related industries, as well as venue and catering options for events.
Events: Developing AIGA Portland events focused on sustainability.
