dMob August 2010

Get serviced at the Radio Room – a re-tooled 1949 Alberta Street gas station that’s now a cool restaurant/cafe/bar. The menu is a mish-mash of comfort foods: Johnny Royale Cheeseburgers, Ahi Tacos and Four Cheese Macs. We especially dig the hilariously titled “Starving Artist Special.” Be sure to turn your collars up for this decidedly garage-rock spirited bar. Wednesdays are ($3.25) Well Drink Specials night.

Calling All Submissions

If Portland is a hotbed of both creativity and sustainability, where is your story? Share your observations, ideas, or even challenges, in a 5-minute presentation on sustainable design at the 4th SHIFT: A Green Salon.

This popular event informs, inspires and engages peers, clients and students about sustainable design thinking and practices. Be one of the next 10 to take the mic and help shape the future of visual communications…for the greater good.

Submit your 5-minute presentation idea by August 2nd and if selected, you’ll then have a week to complete your presentation based on guidelines received.

The event also includes a Q&A with presenters, time to mingle before and after presentations, and snacks - plus free beer for those who bring their own mug.

Need Inspiration?

• What does sustainable design mean to you? We want to know!
• Have you taken sustainability steps with clients or your own business?
• Have you discovered a product, packaging or service that inspired you? Tell us why.
• Have you seen a problem in need of a green design solution? Share it.
• Are you disturbed by greenwashing? What’s makes an authentic message?

For more inspiration, see the list of presentations from Shift 1, Shift 2 and Shift 3.
